Well, this picture was suppose to be last as a surprise, but yes, Isaac placed 3rd in his chess tournament today! From left to right are his classmates who also won for Mt. Lake - Sam Hirsch place 2nd, Hunter Dahna placed 1st and Isaac place 3rd for the Mt. Lake team. This was Isaac's 3rd tournament he's been in and first tournament that he's actually placed. And to top it off - today is Isaac's birthday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We were hoping that he would get a medal today (even Josiah told me this morning "Mom, it sure would be nice if Isaac got a medal today cuz its his birthday!"). And sure enough, Isaac beat 2 kids, had 2 stalemates and lost only 1 game (to Hunter of course), so he got 3rd place!!!!! We are very proud of him and Isaac was surprised to hear his name as 3rd place too! (needless to say, I had tears in my eyes too knowing that he's wanted this so bad, and yes, to get a medal on his birthday is the icing on his cake!) By the way, Isaac is 11 years old today - my baby isn't my baby anymore! How sad....... (besides that, he's 5'1" tall already! Soon he will be my height and literally not my baby anymore!

Ryan and Isaac playing each other. This game was a stalemate. This was Ryans' first year playing and first tournament and he placed 6th - he did an awesome job as well. Too bad they give medals out to other places other than just 1,2 and 3rd.
