Uncle Willard's 70th birthday party

Ok, so I'm probably going overboard on the photos here, but I couldn't resist posting them all! I had a fabulous time with all my relatives!! It has been so long since I've seen them, that I didn't realize how much I missed all of them until I saw them! My only regret is that I wish I would've known about the finger smear on the lens of my camera!!!!! (argh!) If I would've checked it before taking all the pictures, I wouldn't have gotten that crazy "cloudy" look in the middle of my pictures! So, if any of you have a better family picture (and preferable one with Uncle John in it), could you please email it to me? I would really appreciate it! I have that picture as my wallpaper on my computer at work, but of course mine has the "cloudy" look to it, so I would appreciate a clearer one and yes, Uncle John, you are part of the family, and I would like you in my picture too! :)

We had a really good time with everyone. Uncle Willard had around 60 or so people visit him during his open house at the Eventide, and I thought that was really nice. Of course the ultimate was finding out that Isaac told my Dad yesterday (after picking him up from school) that he had a great time playing with all his cousins. Dad said they weren't talking about it at all, Isaac just brought it up on his own. And Isaac was also in bed by 7:30 that night!! He was just a little worn out playing so much! It makes me realize how we really have to make the time for the next family reunion we have. Hopefully next it will work out for us to be able to go.

Until next time, enjoy the family photos. Some aren't the greatest, Josiah and Isaac had the camera at the Parkside Depot where we went to dinner, but they meant well!

Have a great day and I hope all of you are doing well! I love you all and had a fabulous time with all of you! - HONEST!!! Like Cheri told me, I am VERY proud of my Christian heritage and love my family so very much!

Hugs to you all! ~

Our very own Tony Hawk!!!!

For those of you who don't know who Tony Hawk is, he's a famous skateboarder. Our boys know him well. They like his clothes and are anxiuosly awaiting his line of tennis shoes (which Mom and Dad haven't gotten them yet!)

Well, for Josiah's birthday, Martin got him his very own skateboard, so needless to say, he has been wanting to go to Grandma and Grandpa's house a lot lately so he can ride it. (we don't have any concrete at our house for him to ride on). Thankfully my boss's wife, Sherri had just given us some elbow and knee pads from their son who never wore them so Josiah is fully decked out now to skateboard.

One day this week Josiah was adament that I take pictures of him on his skateboard, so here they are! Enjoy!

Scout-O-Rama

Ok, so it was a very busy week - after Josiah's birthday, then birthday party, on Saturday, the 12th, we had Scout-O-Rama in St. James. This is where the District pinewood derby races were held this year. We had a blast on this day. Our friends from Church, Gary Wyatt and his wife Donna were there. Gary leads the Boy Scout troop in St. James and Donna happened to be there as well. So basically her and I hung out all morning long and into the afternoon. In order for your boys to race at the District level, each pack had to have a table set up of an activity to do. So our leaders chose knot tying and other packs had various activities. One pack had the activity that you see above where you sit on a big round tube of sorts and you try to knock the other person off with a pillow. Well, Isaac being the shy boy that he is didn't want to do it until Donna said that she would go with him. Donna is a riot and they had a blast being up there. Needless to say, Donna's feet could touch the ground so she ended up with an upper hand on Isaac, but it didn't matter. He got knocked off twice, and as you can see by the picture, he was laughing cuz he had such a great time! :) Josiah on the other hand, didn't have anyone to go with, so he went with another boy that was there. He knocked the other guy off and I think J got knocked off once too. Then it was time for the races.

The pictures didn't turn out too well. But Isaac and Daniel Coleman actually ended up racing against each other. For those of you who aren't sure who Daniel is - he's my cousin Shirley's son. Daniel and Isaac are both in 3rd grade and are Bears this year. Next year they will become Webelos and on goes the transition to Boys Scouts. Sorry to say that neither Daniel or Isaac's cars placed in the derby, but I think they both had fun just being there! We don't see Daniel too often, so it was nice to get to see him and have the boys play together!

Josiah's birthday

Ok, so I have been really lax on getting these photos up and going, but here they finally are. Josiah had invited 3 friends to come over for his birthday party - Paton, Brett and Spencer. We took all 4 of those boys (including Josiah, of course) and Isaac, Sam and Tommy to Springfield to go bowling just like we did for Isaac's birthday. All the boys had a blast, and the day ended up being a good day. Cold and windy, but nice none the less. Basically no more snow!!!!

My baby's birthday!

Today is April 10, 2008 and my beautiful baby boy, Josiah Wes, is turning 7 today. Its so hard to believe that 7 years ago, he was born. We had no idea if we were having a boy or girl (not that it mattered anyway), until Dr. Taber did an ultrasound on me 7 years ago last night and oops! it slips - "there's a testicle". When Martin arrived at the hospital that night, I told him what I had heard only to ask Dr. Taber this morning, 7 years ago, if what he said was true. Much to his horror, he said yes and apogolized profusely for letting the cat out of the bag. I didn't care what we were going to have, as long as the baby was healthy. But I was excited to be able to say "these are my boys". I remember that phrase very well, as it was a very good feeling knowing we had 2 beautiful little boys in our family! So today, at precisely 9:01pm, Josiah Wes Quintero was born. I remember his birth so vividly. Too bad back then we didn't have a digital camera so I could download his first pictures. He was hooked up to all sorts of wires - he was one day early, but his lungs weren't filled out like normal babies. Meaning, his lungs were like unblown up balloons - all crumpled together and his lungs needed to expand. So they called Sioux Falls hospital and because of bad weather, they had to drive to Mt. Lake (2 hours) instead of take the helicopter to pick him up. So by the time they got to Windom where we were at, Josiah was eating well and keeping his oxygen level up which was a good sign. I remember Dr. Taber telling us that if babies are gonna get worse, it would've been in that first few hours, but Josiah held his own (and still does to this day!). So the team went back to Sioux Falls and we stayed at the hospital for almost a week. He was born on a Tuesday night and we got released that Saturday, the day before Easter. It was a remarkable week. Since Josiah was c-section, I had to stay too, and Josiah was on the line of being jaundice as well, but got sent home with nothing extra for that.

To this day, Josiah is a remarkable little boy. He's been a very strong headed young man, very stubborn, yet very lovey and wanting attention. He loves our family, our dog and cat, and he is a VERY outdoors-y type of person. Anything he can do outside, or with his Dad, he is in heaven. He loves to help around the house when he's in the mood. He loves to wash the floors and sometimes, will even clean the toilets! (not that I push him to do that one). We have thoroughly enjoyed his first 7 years, and are excited to look at the next 7+ years and see what kind of young man he will turn into.

In this picture, he's wearing his "100 day of school" glasses and hat from yesterday at school. Every year the Kindergarteners celebrate 100 days of school, and this was no exception. So, goofy as he looks, this is now our 7 year old! Brown hair, brown eyes, crazy smile with only one front tooth (with the other permanent front tooth finally making its way in that beautiful smile of his), obnoxious and loveable child of ours!

And of course, what do you think the forecast is for this beautiful day?! 100% chance of precipitation!!!!! Actually the forecast has changed to mostly rain, but still a chance of up to 3" of snow (and still depending on when the rain turns to snow, for the official amount). As of yesterday they were forecasting up to 10 - 12" for our area. Bleck!

Hope you all have a great day today! We will - we'll be celebrating the birth of our youngest son, Josiah Wes Quintero. Born at 9:01pm weighing 8lbs. 8oz. and 21" long. (funny how you remember the details). Today he wears size 8 jeans, size 6 or 8 shirts, and weighs around 55#'s, and wears a size 13 in shoes. I'm not sure how tall he is, but he's tall and skinny. Tomorrow we have a bowling party for Josiah and 3 of his friends - Spencer, Peyton and Brett. So, weather permitting, we will be going back to Springfield for another super birthday party! :)

Have a great day! - I know we will!!! ;-)

Our very own Rascal Flatts!!!

Ok, so yesterday was a day of hair cuts for our Rascal Flatts!!! Martin has been wanting to give him a hair cut like a lion for a while now - he saw another pomeranian looking like that and thought it was really cute. It does for Rascal too - make him really cute, just hard to get used too. He is not longer our dust mop or fuzz ball!!! Now the only thing we have to do is shave him for the summer and he will really look like a lion. They gave our old cat, Stanley that same hair cut at the vet clinic before he died and he looked so cute! Rascal did very well for me yesterday trimming his hair - he normally does. Except we usually do it outside so all the excess hair can fly away as needed instead of collecting on the floor in the house. Oh well. Isn't he cute?!

Snow

Ok so I have been really lax on getting this photo in here. Last week Monday, we had around 6" of this icky white stuff. So much so that they had school, but only until 9am and then it was called off for the day. It was just enough time for the School to take attendance and count it as a full day of school for the kids so they don't have to make it up. By now that snow is gone, but now this morning there is another really thin layer of snow again. ARGH!!!!! Can we ever get rid of this stuff?! This past Saturday it was suppose to get up to 64 degrees, and I know it got to be atleast that, cuz the boys were loving the fact of playing outside without any jackets on, but now this weeks' forecast is for more snow/rain stuff. How awful. Although I do remember last year on Josiah's birthday having snow on the ground. See the first photo! (ok, so I couldn't get it pasted right after this paragraph - I need to figure out how to do that?!)
Anyways - you guys get the picture. ARGH for sure!!!
